Hopefully you have read the page on what to do before your tan but you still want to know what to expect. Firstly, if you have not done so already you will be asked to fill in the consulation form and we will have a brief discussion on whether the tan is for a special occasion and how dark you want to go (althogh to a large degree this is dependent on your skin type and how easily you tan normally) and any questions you may have. There is really only one frequently asked question and that is ‘Do I have to take all my clothes off?’ and the answer is a catagorical no. You are paying for this tan, you are the boss, and I want you to feal completely at ease. I have desposable knickers and bras that you can have if needed. Usually clients tend to go topless but several have worn a disposable bra for the first tanning session and once they realised that I am a professional have not bothered on subsiquent occasions. As I say, it is entirely up to you and what you feel comfortable with.
If you are worried about being sprayed by a man then bear in mind that some of the countries best spray tanners are male (click here for my justification of that remark).
Once you are changed I will give you some ‘sticky feet’ to protect the souls of your feet (which should never be tanned as it looks totally unnatural) and put some barrier cream on other areas that do not want to be tanned such as the palms of the hands and the bottoms of the feet and the fingernails and usually (to a lesser degree) the knuckles, fingers, elbows, knees, ankles and toes.
I have a number of spray tan guns but if I am useing my normal HVLP (High Volume Low Pressire) gun then air will come through the gun all the time but the tanning solution will only come out when I pull the trigger so when you first feel the air it does not mean that there is tanning solution comming out so don’t panic. The tan itself will probably take about ten minutes after which I will probably unplug the air hose from the gun and use the warm air from the compressor to dry the solution.
